The race for excellence in end-of-course exams in Cameroon has begun for the 2013/2014 academic year. Schools re-opened throughout the country Monday 2nd September 2013. On that first day, many schools began studies knowing that excellence passes through hard work. Our Lady of Lourdes College Mankon, Sacred Heart college Mankon and PSS Mankon are among the colleges that have been registering excellent results year in year out in the General Certificate of Education Examination, GCE both at the Ordinary and Advanced Level. The principal of Sacred Heart College Mankon Rev. Father Michael Kintang attributes the excellent performance of his school to what he calls PHD which means prayers, hard work and discipline. For Sister Ndi Ndi's college Our Lady of Lourdes Mankon, it is because the students are at the right place at the right time doing the right thing. They study when they should, pray when they should, relax when they should and eat when they should. It will be surprising if the scenario in PSS Mankon is different. These three schools make a lot of people proud. They have set standards that others need to be emulate. As a past student of Our Lady of Lourdes Mankon said jokingly recently, the moment a young person crosses the gate into the college as a student, her success is already fifty percent in her pocket. She is like sitting on a tree with a lot of ripe fruit. It is left to her to pluck as many as she can. If she fails to do what she is supposed to do, it is her fault. We do hope they will make the most of their opportunity. At this moment when they are just beginning, we wish all of them a very successful academic year.
